Truffle Story

Truffle Departments

Sales & Customer Services

Out and about visiting customers, attending trade shows, we’re always on the move here. One day you can be in the Midlands talking to one of our big retail customers the next you might be up North with a food service distributor. We set off further a field a couple of times a year to represent the brand and get people to appreciate the taste of truffle, all with the aim of winning new business. Delivering a first-class service as well as having the ‘gift of the gab’ goes a long way in this department!

E-Commerce and Marketing

Working with multiple international platforms, analysing data and optimising sales. In the eCommerce team you have to know your meta data from your SEO and PPC, whilst working closely with marketing on digital content and email campaigns. Marketing are the creative hub, running photo shoots to showcase fabulous recipes and writing mouth-watering copy. Briefing our range of designers and printers as well as interacting on social media, researching new markets and looking for PR opportunities. It’s a juggler’s dream.

Supply Chain

Without this department we wouldn’t have any fresh truffles or the raw materials to make our wonderful tasting products. Working with multiple suppliers ranging from printers to glass manufacturers, and dealing with the truffle sellers in multiple European countries makes for a very varied day. A head for numbers is a must here.

Production is at the very heart of what we do. One day you’ll be making truffle mustard, the next you could be mixing up some of our preserved truffle products or working on the oil filling line. It’s fast paced and no two days are ever the same, you’ll rotate tasks with your colleagues on a regular basis and when we’ve got a really big order to fulfil, we bring in lots of extra hands to make light work. A nose for the smell of truffles is a real asset in this department!

Maintaining high standards is what the Quality Team are all about. Performing daily tastings and checks on the days products is a vital part of ensuring everything we produce is of the highest standard and remains constant and consistent. Technical knowledge abounds here from checking nutritional data to preparing us for more industry accreditations means you need to have an eye for the detail in everything you do.

Magic happens in this department. We ship containers across the ocean to America often with complex and multiple orders. We air freight fresh truffles to Hong Kong and the countries we are selling in is expanding fast. With over 10 countries to serve you need to be highly organised and meticulous in your work. Working with both import and export, dealing with customs as well as our UK carrier partners it’s varied and dynamic. This is deadline driven territory and you need to thrive on that. At times it can be ‘up to the wire’ but the sense of satisfaction when your goods have cleared and arrived is immense.

This is where all the lovely truffle goods are picked and packed as well as taking charge of all incoming deliveries. In the morning you’ll be checking, sniffing and wrapping fresh truffles. During the day you’ll be driving a forklift truck around the warehouse, loading pallets onto lorries bound for far flung destinations before making sure everything is ready for our UK couriers to collect at the end of the day.

This of course is the most important department of all. Without accounts we wouldn’t get paid! Checking, posting and paying invoices goes on here as well as preparing our monthly accounts ready for our CEO to sign off. It’s more of a numbers’ game here!
